Back Pain

Jessica Said:

What could pain in my back from taking a deep breath mean?

We Answered:

There is a chance that you subluxated (partially displaced) a rib. This usually happens in the back from a traumatic incident, and can cause restricted and painful breathing. You also might have strained or bruised an intercostal muscle, located between the ribs. Either one would cause the symptoms you're describing.

A chiropractor might help, as well as alternating heat and ice on the area. Start with 10 minutes of heat, end with 10 minutes of ice.

Gentle deep breathing exercises can help a displaced rib readjust. Follow the procedure in the link below, except only breathe in to the point where you experience NO pain. You will find that you can breathe in deeper the more you do it.

BACK PAiN!?

We Answered:

You really should visit a doctor. Sudden and constant pain like that, especially in your lower back, could be the sign of any number of ailments. You may have injured it...or you could have something more serious. At the very least, the doctor can prescribe a stronger pain killer and/or physical therapy. Good luck - AND GO TO THE DOCTOR SOON.

BACK PAIN!!!?????????????

We Answered:

Yeah, this is one that yoga cannot help. You have a pain that is coming from a pinched muscle and it needs to be released so you can be pain free again. To do so isn't that hard, just follow this exercise:
Back:
Place your left hand on your left knee. Place your right hand over your left shoulder and with your fingertips find the muscle next to your spine. Press on it and hold. Relax, take a deep breath and exhale and don’t tense up any part of your body. After about 30 seconds there should be a release happening and when it does slowly lower yourself forward onto your right leg or even over it if you can, the more over the better it is. Continue holding for a total of one minute. Then release but rest your body there for one minute longer. Then reverse and do the right side.

Back pain?

We Answered:

i have been experiencing back pain for many years now and have managed the pain successfully for about a year now. what i found to work was actually a very simple process. and it is also something i did not see in any of the other answers i have seen. ones answer suggested heat for 10 minutes. yes you alternate it with ice packs first heat to relax the muscle. then ice for 10 to reduce inflammation. then take an over the counter ibuprofen. you can take up to 800mg four times a day. also you should lay on the floor and exercise the back muscles by slowly bringing your knees to your chest. do this a few times. then lay your legs flat. bring your bend your right leg into a four shape on the floor and slowly twist your upper body to the left as far as you can. repeat 2 to 3 times. then do the same thing on the left side. the object to to stretch the lower muscles. but do not rush the exercising. you do not want to over stimulate your muscles. and finally when you go to bed at night rest lay on your side and lay a big pillow under you leg bring your knee level with your side. this relieves excess strain on your lower back muscles. if this dose not work after a few days of trying you should consult your doctor for further treatment. i hope this advise helps you my friend and god bless.

back Pain ?

We Answered:

As we grow older our muscles start to weaken unless we keep exercising them, especially if we have a desk job.

For us men we rely a lot on our lower back muscles for our sexual activities. With the pleasure that we would be getting, we tend to override any lower back pain while we are having sex. Hence, we could be straining our lower back muscles to the point where it could become a chronic pain.

My advise to you is to check with your doctor to make sure that the pain you are experiencing is nothing serious. Then you should start strengthening your lower back muscles through regular exercising, e.g., walking, swimming, etc. You could also ask your doctor for any other exercises you could do to strengthen your back in general.

Good Luck!

How to reduce foot pain, leg pain and back pain while standing at work for a long time?

We Answered:

When standing still, have one foot higher than the other, it really works, like even a level of a 3" to 5" can make a difference when standing idle. If working on concrete, get soft soled shoes, like cushions. Trying exercises like walking on toes for a minute. Sitting down on a chair, bring your legs up and stretch your foot all the way forward and then all the way back (may have to have someone help you with this one), it stretches the tendons and muscles you have used one way all day.

Taking baths with epson salts helps (clear with GP). Make sure (via blood work) you have the right balance with potassium, magnesium, and calcium, to keep the leg pain away. Also stand two feet from wall, hold the wall and lean into the wall by relaxing arms, helps with legs. Also massage legs from foot to knee. Keep hydrated.

When you can get a break, put feet up, if you can, higher than heart, helps with the blood circulation. If your feet swell, make sure you have good shoes, see GP to make sure you don't have an underlying medical condition. Compression stockings for men and women are available to help keep the fluids from staying in legs and feet (see GP for guidance).

Back pain requires actually exercise and make sure there is nothing wrong first medically. Lot of stress from standing all day. Swimming is good as a relief, so is yoga and massage. Generally, people that eat right don't need supplements, but who eats right? Balance your meals with lots of greens, fresh veggies, light on meats and beer. Too much calcium like dairy can cause a buildup in blood, so balance is important. Try to stay away from corn products, seems there are people that are on their feet all the time, getting off of corn does help, but they don't know why yet.

Sometimes my son, after being on his feet all day says he feels like he was hit by a truck, God forbid, but he goes on his bike and weird, using different muscles helps the ones he overworked, so try it. If you have no medical problem, sometimes a hobby like bowling can make the difference because of the way we move or not move all day needs all the muscles working.

When tired, do put feet up, massage legs and feet, use pillows for back support and chill out.
