Teenage Depression Help

How do I know if I have teenage depression? How do I treat it?We Answered:
You are at such a young age that taking meds for your depression would be insane! Dont put your brain on meds while its still developing.. it wont develop right or will slow its development. Ways to beat the blues and I mean major blues are simple.. diet, exercise and nutrients. Exercise will help boost your endorphins and make you feel good about yourself. It will help your confidence more than anything else. Also Vitamins such as the B-vtiamins are a very potent treatment for depression. Try taking a b-complex as 25-50mg a day and you will start to feel alot better. Also taking omega-3 fatty acids as found in fish oil have been shown to be potent antidepressants. Omega-3 fish oil pills can cure depression I believe. Try taking 3 a day and work up if you need more. I take 5-6 pills of fish oil a day and it has helped me alot. Zinc and magnesium are two minerals found to have antidepressant effects, You can buy all of these at most stores and are very cheap. Get into your vitamins/minerals and fish oils for a major depression lift and keep up exercising to keep your brain working at its best. Take time each day to see what good has happened and don't obsess on the bad. Relaxation helps me alot as well with some good music. Start this and you will feel the blues melt away in no time I promise.-As for meds go I wouldnt get on them while your brain is developing. Try these natural ways and they work better than any antidepressant I've ever tried. If only people knew there was hope and relief besides drugs..the natural approach to depression is major and works but the number of new antidepressants on the market and the cuts that doctors get to prescribe a certain drug has got the public wayy over-medicated. It's a sad world when whenever your down they throw an ssri at you.

As a teen, what can I do about teenage depression? We Answered:
I think it's WONDERFUL that you care and want to help:-)One of the BEST WAYS that I can think of is simply education, done in a way that will be quick/easy/grab attention.
Flyers come to my mind immedietly...they are ONE page, therefore easy/quick to read...I'd print out the more important facts about Depression/Suicide,and make copies to pass out at school, always have a few copies on you too when possible.
In doing this..I'd use a very "catchy" Headliner...such as MOST SUICIDES FAIL...I say that only b/c depression is SO OFTEN accompanied by feelings of Suicide..and in order for a lot of teens to get motivated enough to seek help..they need to FIRST get ANY IDEAS of Suicide OUT of their heads.
The best way to do that is to SCARE THEM WITH THE FACTS/STATISTICS of suicide right off the bat...the first few lines of the flyers could read something like this for example.....
"Did you know that for every 'such and such %' of kids who attempt suicide...'such and such%' fail.
Many are left brain damaged/paralyzed/ect due to guns.
Many are left with liver damage/failure,lasting retardation-like after effects from overdose
Some jump in front of trains...but are just left with missing limbs, brain damage, ect, ect
Start off with an IN-YOUR-FACE approach like that, that will catch their attention....then from there write a paragraph about the signs/symptoms of Depression.
Then a paragraph about the different treatments available such as CBT/DBT Therapy,Antidepressants, you may want to include some "natural/alternative" remedies like herbs,Omega 3 fish oil,St Johns Wart,5-HTP ect, ect.
Then in closing list some Hotline Numbers they could call if they felt suicidal...
Those would be some ideas...hope they help:-)

Teenage depression?We Answered:
You behavior is normal for someone going through this change in your life.-Talk to a friend
-Talk to your school guidance councilor
-Talk to your school psychologist
-Talk to therapist outside school if you can afford it.
Most of all. Talk to your mom. Tell her your having a hard time adjusting to your new living situations. I am sure she would not mind if you went to get some extra counseling sessions.

teenage depression.....?We Answered:
Look, I used to feel sooooo 'depressed' for about 4 years and I've only recently realized that I shouldn't have sat there feeling sorry for myself and not talk to anyone for that amount of time because I started to develop anxiety. And if I tried to talk to anyone they found it a hard subject to talk about and it felt like they had given up on me. I found that when I was happy everyone around me was happy with me and it made me feel so much better to know I had people to help me. I now feel totally fine. I may have the odd 'day' where it all comes back to haunt me, but I always cheer myself up in the end. I know your case is different.Just act like your fine with you two not being together, be happy, go out, find another boyfriend and show that bastard that he doesn't hurt you anymore. Becuase the more you show it. The more he will be like that.
I hope you can sort yourself out and be happy :) x

what could be the best title for a movie about teenage depression? We Answered:
...."HANG ON"......Life is extremely difficult no matter who you are, where you live, or whatever you do. Depression is with everyone, yet it affect everybody differently. One needs just to HANG ON. Sad to say, there are going to be many bad days, yet one must do their best to survive the day, knowing there will be a tomorrow, with hopes things will be a little better. Just talking to a friend, or another person about anything, every day, will be in a small way, helpful. Sometimes while doing for others, rewards you in many folds, and can help you keep your thoughts positive, and keep the depression away. Best wishes and good luck, just 'HANG ON'...
