Acid Reflux Attack

can sever acid reflux attack last for all night long ?? i couldn't sleep at all?

We Answered:

Apple cider vinegar will get rid of the problem. If you eat a salad with oil and vinegar dressing with the meal you won't experience any reflux. Are you chewing your food really well? You need the saliva to start the digestive process. Don't drink with your food-maybe 3-4 ounces of water at the most. You will dilute the digestive acid if you drink too much. Also, Tums, Pepto Bismal, Nexium, etc. will NOT help with the problem. all of these will block the generation of stomach acid and cause your problem. Try to eat more than 3 hours before you go to bed. A full stomach when you lay down will make matters worse. Diet is also a concern. If you eat spicy or hot seasonings or mix food that doesn't go together-whipped cream and jalapeno peppers, for instance, this could also be a contributing factor.

Acid Reflux or Heart Attack?

We Answered:

there is no link between what happens in the esophagus region and the heart and the intense burning sensation can only occur in the food pipe or the stomach area so don't you worry . but get a echo cardiograph done for your heart in case that problem may be there too

Can acid reflux cause a anxiety attack or a panic attack?

We Answered:

Hey, How are you?

I'm almost a doctor...

Acid reflux (GERD) cannot cause an anxiety or panic attack. Some people genetically are more prone to get these attacks. Two ways to reduce them are to:

- Avoid the triggers that cause the panic attacks (irritating people) or to have calming people support you when ya have to face certain triggers (i.e. tests).

- If it goes on for months, and praying, avoiding triggers, and family/friends' support doesn't work, go to a psychiatrist, explain what happens, and they have EXCELLENT medications that will help.

What's the best thing to do after acid reflux attack?

We Answered:

chew up a tums really good, swish it around in your mouth with some water thoroughly, gargle it around, and swallow it. I guess you could also use baking soda and water, as it's a weak base, but I'd stick to using something alkaline like tums rather than a weak base, as it will buffer the pH closer to a neutral value rather than making your mouth basic.

Tums are made of calcium carbonate, the same stuff as limestone. They neutralize hydrochloric acid (stomach acid) very effectively

Do not brush your teeth for a half hour, stomach acid will soften the enamel temporarily.
