Acid Reflux Otc

Brittany Said:

Any acid reflux pills OTC?

We Answered:

I've actually been taking it longer than that. But every time I go to the doctor he asks if I'm still getting by with one a day?
That leads me to believe that you can either build up an immunity or perhaps your body compensates and tries harder to make acid.
Either way, it suspect its not uncommon. I also suspect a higher dosage is sometimes prescribed. Prilosec is OTC.
The other OTC meds I can think of work differently. ie. they dont stop acid from being made, they stop it from hurting somehow.
I think the best thing would be to check with your doctor. That would be the safest way to decide.

Is there a OTC acid reflux med. for kids??

We Answered:

it sounds like acid reflux or some form of it. but you really need to get her to a dr asap. Cuz if she has gerd like me it can cause some severe damage. just let her have some tums or something they wont hurt her. but it could led to holes in her stomach esophical damage and god knows what else and all are very painful

Acid reflux question (Prilosec OTC)?

We Answered:

Okay, throw away the acid blocker stat! New FDA black box warning on all PPI acid blockers is that they increase the risk of fractures and also they suggest only take 3 times a year for 14 days each....this is about time! The damage taking acid blockers long term is heart failure among hundreds of other effects.

If you have a bit of spare change, go to the health food store and purchase digestive enzyme supplements. Not sure how much they cost, but here in Australia they are about $30 for 90 tablets so this is good value. Digestive enzyme supplements are so amazingly effective i can't begin to tell you! If you do have acid reflux from the H Pylori bacteria you will need antibiotics to get rid of it. My mother suffered from GERD and LPR for 5 years and now has neither (after a few weeks!) from only taking digestive enzyme supplements before each meal. Now if you haven't any money for digestive enzymes, try apple cider vinegar (with the mother in it - stringy bits that contain digestive enzymes). All raw foods contain enzymes so eating cooked, processed foods and not chewing thoroughly all put a strain on your stomach and pancreas. I'll add some great websites to check out. Here is to your good health.

Best OTC medicine for acid reflux disease?

We Answered:

Either Gaviscon or Rene's, but really, POM acid-suppressing drug are better if reflux is a persistant problem. There are two classes of drugs, - proton pump inhibitors and histamine receptor blockers .

The proton pump inhibitor is better.

Im getting stomach aches and breathing problems from acid reflux. What OTC medicines can help me?

We Answered:

Prevacid in 30 mg caps is the only thing that helps me with those problems ,but it's not over the counter, I have tried every thing under the sun and finally went to a PA and got the scrip for it, it works
